Just as this thread suggests, tell all about how you've discovered and became hooked on YGO. Here's my story.
I was a senior in high school when I first discovered Yu-gi-oh, it was around late October-early November, which would make it a year and some after it first debuted..so yeah, I was a bit late to the party. I didn't catch the super early episodes until it started airing on Cartoon Network. So anyway, I was hooked on Sailor Moon and would watch to see if it would come on and one day I was flipping through the channels and I spotted Yu-gi-oh. The episode "Shining Friendship" was on. Out of curiosity I decided to watch and see what it was about. It didn't take long for me to become intrigued. I had thought Yugi was Tèa's little brother for some reason and that Mai was evil, based on her trash talking and she reminded me of female Zoisite from Sailor Moon..it was the ending of the episode where she taunted the gang saying last one to the castle was a rotten egg when I realized that wasn't the case. And ever since then I was hooked and would find myself wanting to catch it every afternoon.

Well I was still a child when I first discovered Yu-gi-oh. I saw the very first episode where Yugi was going up against kaiba. That caught my attention as Kaiba right away was on my bad list just from how he acted. Yugi had me slightly intrigued into it but It wasn't until the switch that I realized something had made me more intrigued into the show. It was Yami Yugi who we much later find out is named Atem, He became my main reason for watching the show overtime it was on. If It was on I didn't want to go anywhere until it was over. Needless to say I was hooked onto the series and all these years later I'm still hooked into the series greatly waiting and watching to see the Pharaoh win. He was the first on my list of characters I liked and through out the series I have a list of characters I grew to just really hate and the list all these years later hasn't changed.

I'd have to say, I was hooked the moment I saw Marik. He's so hot and dreamy... and sexy... has a great VA... a great body... And did I mention he's HOT?

I was 17 years old at the time that Yu-Gi-Oh! aired. I had been a Japanese Anime fan for 5 years before that thanks to Sailor Moon. I was flipping threw the channels on TV one Saturday afternoon than seen Yu-Gi-Oh! and I started to instantly love it. The moment that Yugi changed into Yami Yugi with Millennium Puzzle I was hooked and Yami Yugi became to instant favorite threw the whole series.

My first Yu-Gi-Oh! episode was the first one of the Duel Monsters dub when it premiered in my country back when I was just 11 years old. I had just finished watching CardCaptor Sakura about a year before that and since Yu-Gi-Oh's art style and card theme was similar to that of Sakura's it immediately caught my attention. I think what got me hooked on before getting to know the characters better was the show's sense of adventure and all of the duels having high stakes as well as the connection to Ancient Egypt. Later on Yugi became my favorite and when it was revealed that Yami Yugi and him were two different individuals Atem became my #1 with Yugi staying close behind (he's just too cute! ).

I watched it since I was a kid back in 2003. Used to watch it after school with my sister, it was really funny. xD I thought Yugi and Yami were the same person at first (they sorta still are though aren't they?) and Yami Bakura used to scare the bejeezus out of me. xD Mai and Joey was an obvious couple. Kaiba was a jerk but interesting.

I was introduced to yugioh back when it first aired. I was in 8th grade around 12-13 years old. From the first episode I decided I liked the show. Through high school I continued watching the series and started reading the manga later. There were a lot of great anime/cartoons and games I liked at the time so it never was on top of my favs list, but it still had a place in my heart. I stopped watching the show around the doma arc, and missed the final episodes of the battle city arc. Around 2012 I revisited the anime again, and my love for it was rekindled, maybe even stronger:). In part thanks to abridged series on youtube. I also took a great liking to Yami Marik I never had before. It's wonderful to see the show still alive and still loved. I look forward to the new movie and hope it means good things for the future.

It's Time to Duel!(Create!)
I watched YUGIOH since 4th grade and right away I was hook!(Being a bit of a gamer myself it caught my attention) I'll always watch it on WB Kids, later on CW4KIDS, and Vortex soon afterwards. This series also introduction me to the YUGIOH world and it has always been a favorite of mine;my first ever anime and the only one that I remained loyal to for the longest of times. The animated series along with Teen Titans,a good amount of animated Marvel shows, Justice League Unlimited, and The Batman were all a part of my childhood(and still are)Eventually, with the original series(and later on, the spin-offs)I wanted to play YUGIOH(having heard about the game in the 8th grade)and meet other gamers and artists/fans of it.
I guess YUGIOH inspired me to be a better person,be more active, improve my skills as a gamer and as a artist, and make friends(I still keep in touch with my elementary and high school friends; I have three or 4 very close friends like Yugi himself)
YUGIOH will be forever a favorite of mine.

I got into Yugioh when I was ohhhh maybe 14/15 years old before high school, I would watch it every Saturday morning while doing chores around the house or doing homework; my favorite character was Yami Yugi because he was like a inspiration to me, when I was going through hard times. The second favorite was Yami Bakura also fangirl crush (sorry lol), when I watched the ending of that show that I been watching for years; made me cry so much with Yugi feeling sorry for him cause his friend was leaving for the afterlife. I am currently collecting the show on dvd and movies, the one I can't wait to see is the new Yugioh film The Dark Side of Demensions.

I don't know really. I just started watching the dub on the WB and found it interesting enough to keep watching. I really started paying attention during the arc where Bandit Keith took the Puzzle and Yugi had to duel to get it back. Then we started to learn about an ancient Pharaoh on a stone slab and his possible ties to the Spirit of the Puzzle. It was just too fascinating.
