In the first ever chapter of YuGiOh, we don't see a stitch of black leather on Yugi until after Atem possesses him, then he starts wearing it all the time. This leads me to believe that Yami no Yugi saw black leather at some point on his way to Domino High to "deal with" Ushio and bought it to wear that night and Yugi just kept on wearing it. Some of my fellow Tumblr users say that Yugi already wore stuff like that. But if that's the case, why didn't we see it beforehand?

Maybe Yugi bought the leather outfit but didn't have to confidence to wear it so he just stuffed it in his closet. Later on when Atem first awakened believing himself to be Yugi he remembered that he had that outfit and put it on. From that point forward Yugi wearing leather may have been caused by Atem's new spiritual connection with Yugi giving him the confidence he needed to sport leather on a subconscious level.

From that point forward Yugi wearing leather may have been caused by Atem's new spiritual connection with Yugi giving him the confidence he needed to sport leather on a subconscious level. I believe that is a possibility as well, especially when you consider how shy and self-conscious Yugi was in the beginning.

Exactly. Clothes like that really wouldn't have suited his personality.

I agree on that one. But Yugi looked good in that outfit from Dungeon Dice Monsters. He looked so handsome...heck he and Atem (Yami) both *blush*
