The pan dropped from Yugi's hand and made a loud 'clang' when it hit the ground.
"But you-! I saw-!"
Atem held up his hands, "Calm down Yugi. "Yes I, did die. But Ra saw how I missed you all and when he told me about Tea..."
Yugi snapped to reality when he heard Tea's name. "You know about Tea?"
"Yes." He paused. "How is she?"
"Well...losing you put a lot of stress on her." Yugi said, before adding in a sarcastic tone. "You did go to the afterlife and left us all."
Atem slightly cringed. "Well I deserved that remark....somewhat."
"There's something else isn't there?" Yugi asked.

"I completed a task in exchange for my very own body. I requested for a way to remain with you all but with my own body." He knew it would be foolish to expect Yugi to be entirely happy about his return since it had happened without warning, but on the other hand he was a little disappointed because he had expected Yugi would take it in stride and move on eventually. It was his prayer after he had left. Plus his defeat had proved his partner was ready to be on his own and that he had nothing left to teach him. He lowered his head a bit, avoiding Yugi's eyes. "Look..I understand your displeasure and although my departure was my fate, I wish it didn't have to come down to leaving you all. Understand that I never meant for this to happen." He had initially wanted to go see Tèa so he could reassure her that he was back and everything would be all right, but knew it wouldn't be a good idea. 'I will give her more time to recover. ' He got up from the couch. "Well, perhaps I will just leave so you can have time to process these turn of events." He headed towards the door, wanting to be out of there before Mr. Mutou came downstairs to see what was going on.

(Sorry I'm late. Had to give the cat her medicine before I took my own. ^^; )
"Atem, wait."
The pharaoh stopped and looked at Yugi.
"Where are you going to go?"
"I'm not sure. I'll figure something out-"
"You could stay here, for tonight."
Atem shook his head. "I don't want to impose on you any longer."
"It's no trouble-"
"Yugi? What's all that racket down there?"
Both boys turned to the stairs at the sound of Grandpa's voice.

(no worries at all, hun..was able to keep occupied)
Mr. Mutou walked down the stairs as all the commotion had woken him up. "Yugi? I am waiting for you to explain."
Yugi pressed his hand on his chest to calm his rapid heartbeat. He gulped and looked down at the ground. 'How do I say this without lying but not sounding too crazy? ' "Um, well, I thought someone had broken into the house and it turned out it was an old friend I had no idea was here." He let out a deep breath, thinking about what he said. Not the best way he could have told, but it was technically the truth.
Mr. Mutou's brows furrowed before he frowned deeply. "Friend, you say?"
Yugi glanced up a bit. "Yes."
Mr. Mutou was about to ask who the friend was but then he spotted another young man who looked like his grandson except several inches taller and a different hairstyle as well as eye shape. His jaw dropped open. 'Could it be?'
Atem could feel the old man's scrutiny on him and it was making him nervous. "My apologies for intruding. I will be leaving now, but you will see me again very soon." He continued walking towards the door and then exited the house.

Atem walked down the darkened street, happy that the shadows concealed him as he still wore his ancient attire. What did expect of his return? Smiles and embraces? No...that had been wishful thinking.
Instead, he got confusion and glares.
He didn't know how far he walked nor he care at the moment. then he felt something fall on his head...then another. Rain.
"Just perfect." He muttered. "What else could go-"
Atem felt his feet slip out from under him and he fell into the shallows of what seemed to be a lake. "...wrong." Wiping water from his face, the once pharaoh sloshed to the shore rubbing his arms as he was chilled from the mild breeze. He had to find shelter before he got sick.
"Are you alright?"
Atem looked up and his breath caught in his throat. There before him was a woman with the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. She wore a rain coat with a hood that covered her raven hair, and she held an umbrella in one hand. "I asked if you're alright."
That snapped him back to reality. "I...I um...I think so."
"You took quite a fall."
"Yes..." He felt something slowly slide down one side of his face, after brushing his fingers across it did he find blood.
The woman opened her umbrella had held it over him. "Come with me, I'll clean that up. My house is over there." She pointed to the small cabin-like building. "You can get out of those wet clothes. I'm sure my Godpa has old things you can wear."

Atem stood there hesitating for a moment before looking warily at the young woman. For all he knew, she could just be trying to trap him or something. Letting out a sigh, he followed the woman to her house. Not because he trusted her but it was the only way to get shelter at this point. Standing out in the rain and getting pneumonia or worse didn't exactly sound appealing to him, although a part of him did think maybe it was for the best if he died again since his friends didn't seem to want him around anymore. ' No, you mustn't think that way, for you have worked too hard to accomplish this task. They just need time.', said a voice inside his head. Thing was he didn't know how much time they would need, though. 'Perhaps I can just remain in seclusion with this woman, whoever she is. Time will tell whether she can be trusted or not. ' One thing was for certain, he wasn't about to welcome her into his life without any answers.

The inside of the house had a warm yet cozy feeling; the walls were painted in warm colors, pictures of castle ruins or lush green hills were on the walls. The kitchen, where they had stopped, had a dark wood table with matching chairs where people could eat after cooking. The room next to the kitchen was the living room where the couch and arm chairs were cream colored with plump pillows of blue.
Atem had to wonder if this was a good idea, but it quickly faded when the woman went to the hall closet and pulled out a teal colored towel. "You should dry your hair first then I'll see to that cut. Sit in one of the chairs."
"You don't have to trouble yourself, over me."
She turned those beautiful eyes to him again. It was amazing how those orbs of liquid gold made his whole body go numb...and not in a bad way. "It's no trouble at all, young man."
Then there was her speech; her accent was strange to him.
"Don't take this the wrong way," Atem said slowly. "but where are you from? You don't look Japanese."
She smiled and came back with the towel. "I'm not. I'm Irish, I lived in Ireland before I came here to start another of my practices."
Atem began to dry his hair, removing his crown and earrings first. "And would be?"
"I'm a doctor."
He froze. "Doctor?"
"I may look young, but I started helping my Godpa at his clinic when I was little. After that I studied hard and earned my license." She saw his tense position. "Are you ok? Does your head hurt?"

Atem relaxed in the chair, crossing one leg over the other. Truth be told, the stress of the events back at the Mutous' house did give him a bit of a headache, but he didn't want to accept much more help than he was forced to. "It's nothing...really." He hoped she wouldn't misconstrue his pride for ingratitude. He knew he owed it to her for rescuing him from the cold treatment he would have to endure, but it wasn't always easy for him to allow people to go out of their way to help him. And he did sense a very friendly vibe around her. He was just to wrapped up in his turmoil to show it.

She nodded then retrieved something from the cupboard, a green plastic box. "Well then, let's have a look at that cut."
Atem put the towel on his shoulders and stared at the contents of the box. It was a first aid kit...but there were leaves, dried flower petals and bottles of strange tinctures. "What are these?"
"Oh, you probably haven't seen an Herbal First Aid Kit before have you?" She said.
"No."
"I use medical herbs to help people get better. Many say it's witchcraft but that's because they don't trust things they don't understand."
Atem had to nod at that. He watch her open an alcoholic wipe and let her dab at the cut, he let out a hiss of pain from the sting it brought. Once it was clean, the woman began to grind a few leaves while pouring a bit of tincture from one of the bottles...the pharaoh watched as it became paste that was white. And it smelled.....sweet?
"Marshmallow and Comfrey root and raw honey." She said, as if sensing his confusion. "The Comfrey Root will deuce swelling and the Marshmallow Root will draw out infection. While the Raw Honey will prevent infection." She put some on a flat stick before using it to apply the paste to Atem's cut. Once there was enough on, she covered it with a bandage. "There, all done!"
Atem reached up to touch, but she lightly smacked his wrist.
"Don't touch it."
"..."
"Forgive me for not asking this earlier...but what's your name?"
The pharaoh paused, he didn't trust her enough to tell her his name. But right now he had no choice. "It's Atem."
" 'Atem?' That's an interesting name. I've never heard it before."
"It's Egyptian."
"That makes sense." She giggled, while gesturing to his attire. Causing him to blush, much to the pharaoh's surprise. The woman put her Medical Kit on the counter and said, "I'm called Angela."

(did you want us to take turns playing Atem as well?)
Atem managed to give her some eye contact, along with a reserved smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Angela." He felt a bit better knowing who she was, as leery he was of her. He was actually going to ask her who she was. After all, he didn't want her to go around expecting him to trust her just like that without being properly introduced. It was a shock to him when she beat him to the punch, and saved him the trouble. ' Maybe we can communicate efficiently from now on and work on building trust as well. ' He looked away from her, not wanting her to think he was completely at ease yet.

(No. He's all yours. I just wanted to do that one bit.)
"Now that your cut's taken care of, let's get you into some dry clothes. Follow me."
Angela led the way to a small guest bed room and rummaged through a cardboard box before pulling out a sweat shirt and sweat pants, plus boxers. "I washed these before I put them in here. They be slightly big but it's better than staying in wet clothing. Besides we were going to give these away next weekend. My Godpa won't mind if you use them."
She put them on the bed, and pointed to the door next to the closet. "Bathroom's there if you'd like to freshen up. Once you're changed let me know and I can wash your things." Angela paused a minute. "Would you like something to eat or drink? I get ready for work at this time anyway, so it's no trouble."

(ok just checking)
Without so much of a word, Atem followed Angela. He had to admit, dry clothes sounded very very good at the moment. The wet regal outfit was causing him to start freezing and it took everything to keep from shivering. Not to mention he had every intention of buying a wardrobe of more casual clothing, but that was obviously not an option at the moment. He examined the clothing Angela had laid on the bed for him to use for the time being. He had an amused look on his face as he considered how many sizes it would be for him, but knew at the moment that should be the least of his worries. Furrowing his brow, he took the boxers in hand and the sweatshirt, nodding when she told him where the bathroom was, heading toward the bathroom, only once looking back to respond to her offer for food and drink. "Yes, a cup of tea would be nice." He paused, thinking of how he should talk more so he didn't come across as unfriendly or something. "And Angela? Thank you for your hospitality. I am forever in your debt." He went into the bathroom to change into the fresh clothing.

Angela went to the kitchen to find the kettle, all the while thinking how polite Atem was. He was like a gentleman from a different era. But she found that refreshing. Too many men were either full of themselves or treated others like dirt...it was rare to meet someone that treated others with respect...especially women.
Once the kettle had been found, she poured water into it and set it on the stove. Then she got a couple of mugs from the cupboard while humming the song she sang earlier that night. She didn't know that her voice carried to Atem who heard it.

Shivering a bit, Atem removed the outfit he wore as the pharaoh, towel-dried himself and freshened up before changing into the dry clothing, hanging the wet stuff on the towel rack. He knew if he stayed in the wet clothes for one more moment, he would end up with hypothermia. It was bad enough that his throat was starting to feel a bit scratchy, but he was hopeful the tea would take care of the problem. The entire time he thought about Angela and all she had done for him thus far. He felt bad for being cold to her, as he was usually a bit friendlier than that to strangers unless they gave him some sort of attitude or mess with his friends. 'I should apologize to her. Regardless of my inner turmoil, she has nothing to do with it.' Feeling a bit better, he emerged from the bathroom and sat on the bed, waiting for her to return. A melodic singing voice got his attention. 'How beautiful.'

Angela poured the hot water into a teapot before setting it on a tray with the mugs and tin of tea...as well as some sugar, shortbread cookies and honey. As she took it to the room, a furry body bumped her leg. Angela looked down to see a German Shepherd with a pink collar.
"Oh hey there, Roxy."
Roxy barked and wagged her tail before bounding into the room where Atem was. Angela heard a yelp of surprise and quickly went in before smiling at the sight of Roxy having Atem pinned to the bed and licking his face over and over. "Seems Roxy likes him. I'm glad." She entered the room, "Roxy, off girl. Let him up."
